The tool library is a free community resouce that lends tools for home repair and projects. It's a place for the community to share equipment and experience. You can learn more about tool libraries from this Ted Talk.
Community members can check out items for a short period of time, just like a normal library. Most items have a 7 day loan time, but if you need a tool for longer, please ask! Use the "Lend Engine" tab to see our inventory.
Get Involved
To become a member at the tool library, come in during our open hours (check out the Calendar). We'll ask for ID, proof of residence in Winnebago County, agreement to a liability release and tool use policy, and an optional donation based on income. A yearly membership provides access to hundreds of tools! You can also send us a message via email oshkoshtoollibrary@gmail.com or fill out this survey to share your interests using this google form.
We are currently looking for the following as requested by community members:
- A big whiteboard
- Sturdy folding tables and chairs
- Volunteers - If you're willing to teach a class, go here. We have received many requests for a basics of using a sewing machine course!
- Laptops and computers for digital classes and uses
- Label makers
- Pencil Sharpener, hole punch, and paper guillotine
- Hammer drill, preferrably SDS+
- 'Chompshop' kid safe cardboard cutter
- Surge protectors/power strips
- Kitchenaid Mixer
- Soldering Iron(s) and soldering accessories
- Rechargable batteries (AA,AAA,Cordless Tools)
- Wet Tile Saw
- Snowblowers and lawnmowers; preferrably corded or cordless electric
- Scotch tape and wrapping paper to share this holiday season!
For repairs, stop by for some advice or an extra hand and check out the Repair Cafe Oshkosh, which occurs every few months.
